The Anglican Church in North America is organized into different Diocese (groups of Churches under the direction of a Bishop). Our bishop, Bishop Derek Jones, is bishop not of a diocese, but of a Jurisdiction which is similar, but often broader than a traditional diocese. While the focus of the Jurisdiction of the Armed Forces and Chaplaincy is on all types of chaplaincy (though the majority are military chaplains), where chaplains go, they plant churches. This is the clan we belong to in the larger Anglican Church in North America family.
St. George Anglican Church belongs to the province of the Anglican Church in North America (ACNA). An Anglican province is comprised of all of the dioceses (and Jurisdictions!) and is organized under the leadership of an Archbishop. Please visit the ACNA's website to learn more about our province.
With the move away from traditional Christian values and belief of some provinces in the Anglican Communion (the original worldwide fellowship of Anglican provinces), the creation of the Global Anglican Future Conference or GAFCON became essential. GAFCON was created to guard and proclaim biblical truth globally and provide fellowship for orthodox Anglicans who refuse to bless same-sex marriages and relationships among other issues.
